Signs of Change Charlottesville

Join a conversation with Charlene Green presented by The Fralin Museum of Art at UVA about our Vinegar Hill neighborhood—discover its history and the African-American experience through trials up to present day. Followed by a collaborative art project led by local artist and activist Greg Kelly.

This program is part of a city-wide campaign to educate residents about the history of slavery and African-American life in Charlottesville, as well as current realities for residents of color. Presented in partnership with the Charlottesville Office of Human Rights, the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, The Charlottesville Mural Project, and The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative and is part of a larger nation-wide initiative "For Freedoms/50 States".
